Customer Concern

The homeowner in Central Park called after noticing their Kenmore dryer was running but producing no heat. Clothes were coming out damp after a full cycle. Cody and Shane scheduled the visit for the same morning.

Diagnosis

Upon arrival, Cody and Shane inspected the dryer and found that the heating element had failed. The heating element is the component that generates the heat inside the drum. On this Kenmore model, the element is a coiled resistance wire mounted on a metal frame inside the heater box. A break in the coil stops the element from producing heat entirely.

Repair

Because heating element failures are common on this type of dryer, our team carries the replacement part on the truck. Cody and Shane installed a new Whirlpool factory-certified heating element, part WP3387747, and reassembled the dryer. During testing, the airflow felt restricted. The technicians checked the exterior dryer exhaust and found that lint had partially blocked the outlet. They cleared the lint buildup at the exterior vent and tested the dryer again, confirming heat and improved airflow.

Result

The dryer was back up and running within two hours of the initial intake conversation. Carrying the replacement part on the truck allowed Cody and Shane to complete the repair in one visit while also addressing the exterior exhaust blockage found during testing.
